HR-506 Personal Debts

Summary

The University expects its employees to be prompt in the payment of their personal debts. Any employee who fails to do so may be subject to a writ of sequestration or other payroll deduction as a result of their failure to pay their personal debts.


HR Policy Provisions

  1. University Indebtedness
    Any employee who fails to satisfy a personal debt to the University is subject to the amount being deducted from their payroll earnings.

    • The employee will have the opportunity to settle the debt before it is forwarded to the Payroll Office for deduction.
  2. Other Personal Indebtedness
    1. A judgment rendered against an employee of the University is served on the 萌妹社区 System's disbursing officer by the Boone County Sheriff's Office.
    2. Court-ordered withholdings for child support, family support, bankruptcies, or other judgments rendered against an employee of the University must be forwarded immediately to the University鈥檚 central payroll system for processing.
    3. The judgment must be registered in the State of Missouri.
    4. A fee per payment may be collected per as a processing fee from the employee's remaining earnings after deducting the appropriate amount for a mandatory or voluntary assignment of wages for child support or maintenance.
    5. A levy from the Internal Revenue Service must be forwarded immediately to the University鈥檚 central payroll system.
      • That office must clear any writ of sequestration or wage earner deduction with the Office of the General Counsel before processing.
